Today is the Official Launch of the Navigating POTS Appointments!! πŸŽ‰ Even though Aubrey George is a trained Registered Nurse & Family Nurse Practitioner, these appointments are not designed to replace appointments with your healthcare provider. In honor of the Official Launch of these appointments, I am offering an Official Launch Discount of 50% off your first appointment! πŸ₯³ Both POTS Consultation & POTS Coaching Appointments can be scheduled through Calendly πŸ“† Then the virtual appointment with be through Google Meet πŸ‘©πŸΌ‍πŸ’» I have included specific instructions with links to explain how to schedule appointments at the end of this post πŸ”— If you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out! ✉️

These appointments are opportunities for individualized help with a variety of topics that can include but are not limited to the following:

  • POTS Basics: This appointment is really helpful for people who have just been diagnosed with POTS! In addition to basic POTS education and information, they can also involve setting specific goals, creating ways to track symptoms and planning meaningful ways to move forward.

  • Health History Compilation: Discuss your health history with Aubrey George and she will type it up in a clear way so you can bring it to any appointments.

  • Medication Schedule Organization: This does not include prescribing any medications, instead it involves creating an organized list and schedule based on what has already been prescribed. Then you can take this organized list of medications that you can take to appointments and more easily manage your medications at home.

  • Appointment Preparation: This appointment will involve compiling a list of things you should bring to a doctor's appointment. This can also include dictating what you want to say and translating it into the "medical jargon" that health care professionals use.

  • Symptom Tracking: This appointment will involve discussing various symptoms and creating a organized way to track those symptoms throughout the month.

  • Daily Habits Planning: This appointment will involve discussing various daily habits you want to start and setting appropriate goals. We will create an easy way to track your progress as well.

  • Food Help: Aubrey George is not a Dietitian, but she understands that POTS often comes with dietary complications. This appointment will provide the opportunity to discuss specific concerns, track symptoms and set specific goals.

  • Specific Goal Setting: This appointment will focus on setting specific goals. It will involve creating smart goals that are manageable and coming up with an action plan to achieve them.
  • Emotional Discussions: Aubrey George is not a Therapist, but she understands that having a chronic illness creates a lot of complex emotions. This appointment will provide a safe place to discuss various emotions that come with POTS and can involve setting specific goals and following up.

  • Question or Answer: This appointment will provide an opportunity for specific questions to be answered in an individual setting. These appointments will involve more than just individual education and can include goal setting or other plans.

  • Other: These appointments will be whatever you want to focus on! Please make sure to include the specific questions you have or information you want to discuss when you schedule your appointment.

How to Schedule an Appointment:

1) Even though there are currently only 2 appointment types offered, on the Calendly home page you will see 6 different appointment types based on different prices and discounts πŸ“† πŸ’² In the future I will have discount codes, but for right now they are listed as separate events due to the different prices. The POTS Consultation Appointments are all blue πŸ’™ and the POTS Coaching Appointments are all Cyan🩡 The first event listed for both appointments is the regular price, then there is a "First Time" option that is 1/2 off for the Official Launch Discount and the "Student Option" that is 20% off for the Student Discount.  All students should select the "First Time" appointment for their first appointment and then the "Student" appointments after since the discounts cannot be used together. Please be honest about which appointment you select 😊

2) After you click on the event you want to schedule, it will take you to a calendar page πŸ“† First, read through the information on the left side about the appointment, especially if you are scheduling a POTS Coaching Appointment because it describes the different appointment types. Then on the right side, you will see a calendar. Right now I am allowing appointments up to 30 days in advance and I am available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I will adjust my availability once I finalize my schedule at my other job. Once you select a day that works, you will see the time slots listed on the right, please note that I live in Utah, so the appointments are in Mountain Daylight Time πŸ”️ If you would like to schedule an appointment, but these dates or times will not work for you, please reach out to me at my email. ✉️

3) After you select a date and time for your appointment, the next page will have details for you to fill out for your appointment like your name, email and phone number πŸ“ It will also have specific questions related to your appointment, the required questions will have a * next to them. Any information you include in these responses will help me know what to focus on in the appointment.

4) Under the questions, there is a place for you to pay through Stripe with a debit or credit card πŸ’³ You need to enter the name on your card, your credit or debit card number, the expiration date, the CVC and your zip code. Please be honest about if the Student Discount or Official Launch discount apply to you. You must pay as you schedule the appointment, but I understand that POTS can make keeping appointments difficult so I will offer a full refund if you need to cancel up to 24 hours in advance. You are still welcome to cancel within 24 hours, but there will be a $10 cancellation fee since it is hard to fill appointments that late. If you neglect to cancel, are more than 15 minutes late without contacting me, or you do not show up for the appointment, there is a $25 "No Show" fee. All fees will be taken out of your refund, but the rest will be refundedπŸ’Έ There are more details about the cancellation policy on the Terms & Conditions page. If you have any specific concerns or questions about pricing, please reach out to me through my email.

5) After you have submitted your questions and payment, you will get a copy of your receipt and a confirmation email sent to youπŸ§ΎπŸ“§ The confirmation email will have a link to the Google Meet that we will use for your appointmentπŸ”—πŸ‘©πŸΌ‍πŸ’»

6) After the meeting is confirmed, Calendly should redirect you to a Navigating POTS Appointment Terms & Conditions Google Form to fill out πŸ“‘ You must fill this out before our appointment! This form includes the general Navigating POTS Terms & Conditions, the Navigating POTS Terms & Conditions and the Cancellation Policy, please read through the terms and conditions and check the box to acknowledge that you have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions ☑️ You will also need to include your name, email and the date. After you submit this form, you should get a copy emailed to you πŸ“§ After this step, you are done with everything you need to do before our appointment! πŸ₯³

 7) Once you are finished scheduling you should have 3 emails: a receipt 🧾 a confirmation email with the Google Meet link πŸ”—and a copy of your completed Google FormπŸ“‘ You should also get an email and text message reminder 24 hours before the appointment πŸ“§ Then on the day of the appointment, click on the link and I will let you in the meeting πŸ‘©πŸΌ‍πŸ’»You don't need to bring anything to the meeting, just yourself:) I'm excited to work with you!! 🩡

Navigating POTS Pinterest Account

Today's Blog Post is all about the Official Launch of the Navigating POTS Pinterest Account!  I have been working on this for awhile, so I'm happy I can finally share it with you! I wanted to dedicate a blog post to the account so I could explain some of the specific features it includes and how it is organized, I hope this makes it easier to useπŸ’™ Here is what I want to highlight:

1) My Profile: My profile contains the company name, my name, the account name, the logo, and a description about the company! It also contains a link to the Navigating POTS Blog (purple) and a way to contact me through my email (green).

2) Created vs. Saved Pins: When you first go to the Navigating POTS Profile, you will see a list of all the pins I have created. Most of these are similar to the pins on Instagram & Facebook. It will have the same photo, but a shorter description and fewer hashtags due to Pinterest limitations. If you want to see the full description, checkout the Navigating POTS Instagram or Facebook page! :)

The Navigating POTS Pinterest Page will be easier to use if you click on "Saved" instead of "Created" right under the profile and above the pins:)

Once you are viewing the Saved pins, you should see more organization with various boards! It should look like this:

3) Organization of Saved Pins:

The light blue boards are full of pins that I have created! They are organized based on the kind of pin/post and they include all of the daily posts like Motivational Monday, Tuesday's Tip, etc. as well as others! Some of the boards also have sections within them as well:) Every time I post on Facebook or Instagram, I will also make sure to add it to the Pinterest Account, that way you can see it across multiple platforms! It's also for people who only have 1 kind of account, I hope this can be a helpful way to share information!

The dark blue boards are full of pins that I have not created! I have been using Pinterest for a long time and had a personal POTS board full of pins that I have saved over the years:) They included information about POTS, various comorbidities, Dysautonomia, Chronic Illness and helpful tips and tricks! Since they were so helpful for me, I wanted to share this information with you as well! :) As I find more helpful pins, I will keep updating these boards as well! These pins will only be available through my Pinterest, so even if you are following another Navigating POTS account, it is still worth it to follow the Pinterest account as well!

4) Other Helpful Information

Thursday's Thing Pins: All of my Thursday's Thing posts feature a specific item I use that has helped my POTS:) Each Thursday's Thing pin will have a link to the specific Amazon product I like, I hope it's helpful in case you would like to try it out for yourself!

Funny Friday Pins: All of my Funny Friday posts feature a specific meme that I found and thought was funny:) As previously mentioned, I am not the creator of these Funny Friday memes, I am only sharing them. Under the Funny Friday board there is a section for my posts where I share the meme and then a section with the original meme, this is where you can see the original creator.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the account! I hope it's helpfulπŸ’™

Welcome to Navigating POTS!!!!

Welcome to Navigating POTS! Navigating POTS is an educational business focused on helping people understand and live with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). I am Aubrey George, the Founder of Navigating POTS and I am excited to share my experiences and knowledge with you!

I plan to share some of my personal experiences based on the following:

  • I am a POTS Patient that was diagnosed in 2014 through the Tilt Table Test (I will talk more about that in the future) after several months of dizziness, headaches, difficulty standing and all of the classic POTS symptoms.
  • I am one of the "complicated POTS patients" that has a lot of other problems and syndromes that are common in POTS patients. This has made my treatment plan difficult and often makes me feel like I am playing whack-a-mole that's on fire as I try to keep all of my different symptoms and problems in check!
  • I live in Utah, a place that has very hot summers and is very high in elevation. Both of these factors can make POTS worse, so I want to share some of my tips and tricks for dealing with exacerbations.
  • I have been a part of different POTS organizations as a POTS patient and have formed meaningful friendships and relationships with other patients. I have learned a lot from them!
I plan to share some of my professional and educational experiences based on the following:

  • I graduated with my Bachelor's in Nursing and during that time did clinical rotations in various hospitals and clinics. I also taught the course on Empathetic Communication and learned a lot about advocating for patients.
  • I already knew I had POTS while I was getting my Bachelor's Degree and often applied what I learned to better understanding POTS. I also wrote every research paper on POTS during this degree.
  • I worked as a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics at a Children's Hospital and as a Nurse in schools with children who had chronic health problems that made going to school difficult. I managed a lot of tubes, drains and fluids.
  • I graduated with my Master's Degree in Nursing in a program created to make you a Family Nurse Practitioner. I did most of my clinical rotations with children, young adults and POTS patients.
  • I wrote my Master's Thesis on POTS and published it through my University already. I am currently working on getting it published through a Medical Journal. It focuses on helping Primary Care Providers understand POTS well enough to recognize, diagnose and treat it.
  • I have attended several international conferences about POTS with various specialists. I learned a lot and applied what I learned to my care.
  • I am currently studying for my licensing examination to become a Family Nurse Practitioner so I can hopefully treat POTS patients in clinics.
  • I have done extensive research and learning on the side to better understand POTS.

My goal is to create a supportive community where I can share what I have learned throughout my journey with POTS. I hope that by combining my personal experience as a POTS patient and professional experiences as a Nurse and Nurse Practitioner, I can help POTS patients and their loved ones cope with their diagnosis and find ways to not just survive, but live a meaningful life.
